Does landscape lighting add value?

A.    Yes, they offer not only value in looks, but also in security and safety. Most higher end homes have some type of outdoor lighting whether that be for walkways or ambient lighting around their property. While they can add value to a home, the value truly lies in how much you will appreciate having outdoor lighting on your property.

How does lighting work?

A.    Low voltage lighting is exactly that – low voltage. All we need is an outdoor outlet and we can install a system for you. We start with a transformer (the brains and computer) and then we run wire from that transformer to fixtures laid out across your property. Once we lay out wire, we trench several inches into the ground/mulch to hide the wire and make our connections. Once that is completed you have a working lighting system!

Solar lighting is so much cheaper, why not do that?

A.    Yes, its cheap that is for a reason. Solar lighting is a cheap way to light your walkways. While they do offer light, they are not reliable nor nice to look at. These plastic fixtures are constantly being taken out of properties I install at because of how bad they work. Lets be real, Michigan doesn’t always get that much sun, so why rely on that to have your property lit. Not to mention, solar lighting doesn’t have the type of design flexibility like a low voltage system does.

How much does Lighting cost?

A.    That depends on what you’re trying to get our of your lighting. If all you need are some lights to guide you to your car every morning it can be as simple as a couple thousand dollars. If you would like a grand entrance and make your home have a presence, the sky is the limit.

How do we start?

A.    First things first we ideally have clients fill out our brief questionnaire. Once that is complete, we the MoonCast team look over what our client is looking for regarding lighting or audio and what stage their property is in. Next, after creating a rough plan, we like to meet with the client to discuss in further detail what we can offer them and what timeline/cost it will be looking like. Once design has been approved and signed, we order materials and are usually in and out of the property withing 2-5 business days.
